Clearly this will be very dependent on what receiver you are using, but I'd like to think that the process will be similar for all Futaba Rx with this capability. The following may also be helpful:

Ian,

I believe you have to set your receiver to Mode B or Mode D. Certainly for a T14SG, but I'd assume the 16 will be similar.
