LiPo battery condition

Post by Baughty »

Was discussing LiPo battery condition at the field the other day. It was regarding using a ‘ blown’ LiPo. The battery in question had the typical swollen/puffed appearance, but the internal resistance and voltages on the cells looked normal. As the swollen packaging suggests outgassing and some active chemistry, I would not attempt to use or even store this battery and look to safely dispose of it. However, there were some contrary views around the voltages and resistance all looking balanced and normal and so safe to continue to use (and store). I wonder if battery safety needs better comms within the club?
